Though years ago nobody had imagined it, up today you can affirm that the PC is one of the best platforms to play. The digital distribution of video games, with Steam like the indisputable leader and the range of accessories specially orientated to the gaming (as the protagonist of our analysis) they are two factors that help to make clear the days of glory that the PC lives. We have tested for some days the Razer BlackWidow Chroma and these are our impressions.

The Razer BlackWidow Chroma is a different bet it is obvious even before opening the box; the product weighs, indicating that we got a keyboard of maximum quality and made to last, beside guaranteeing the total stability that the specialized public claims. In an elegant packing and profusely illustrated Razer includes a kit composed by the keyboard, the plug wire, a user’s guide, two cards with information and two stickers of the brand to customize our equipment.

Once in the table, Razer’s new keyboard offers a spectacular aesthetics and a sensation of fantastic hardiness. We like some details: the “soviet” style of the chosen typography, the gummy surfaces of the base and his ergonomics. Razer has taken advantage of the top row, for, besides the keys of function, to offer direct accesses to control of volume, reproduction multimedia, control of the lighting, recording mode for macro and gaming mode. In the right side we will find a port USB 2.0 and connectors of earphones and microphone that those who want to liberate cables from the back part of his equipment will be grateful.

The new Razer Blackwidow Chroma is a mechanical keyboard of standard distribution and generous dimensions, but without being a showy device. It measures 475 x 171 x 39 mm and overcomes 1,5 kilos of weight, practically one more kilo than the majority of peripheral that you can find on the market and an enclosed record inside his gaming spectrum. The secret of the peripheral are its keys, which incorporates Razer Mechanical Switches specially designed for the players, who appear in two versions Green (the purest and those who need a little bit more of force to be activated) and Orange (more silent and with a more short tour).

In his interior they rely on a LED lighting system that includes 16,8 millions of colors, with the possibility of configurate individually every key and work with predefined templates (those of the most popular games already come included in the software). Among other technical details, emphasize that every key is certified to support up to 60 million pulsations and the keyboard detects combinations of up to ten at the same time without mistakes nor beeping sounds.

Though the keyboard works only by connecting it to a Windows equipment, it is very advisable to follow the intructions and install the Razer Synapse dedicated software. Beside installing a dedicated driver, it serves to control the light patterns, for macro programming and predefined actions and to save statistics of our pulsations, something curious that the fanatics of some titles where the speed is key to win will like. Beyond the ornaments, it’s pleasent to see such a polished and work out software.

We have enjoyed the keyboard during a couple of weeks with fantastic results and a doubt proof stability. Create and manage macros is very simple and, after a brief period of getting used to it, it is easy to notice how our performance when playing is improved. Although, it is convenient that you have in mind, as with any other mechanical keyboard, it turns out to be noisier than those membrane keyboards and the response of the keys probably is not best adapted for another type of scenes, as the office computer ones. It has not been our case and we use it for everything, including the draft of the article that you are reading at this moment, but the used users to a lower inclination or a wide wrist rest must look for a plan B.

Razer BlackWidow Chroma

The Razer BlackWidow Chroma is one of the best keyboards for gaming that you can find on the market; with an excellent construction and a software that matches the quality of the peripheral, it is worth emphasizing Razer’s great work with the switches, they are placed at a height of the mythical Cherry MX. It is convenient to have in mind that the lighting system is spectacular, but that also supposes paying an important extra than the models who do not have it. The same Razer preserves in his catalogue the excellent BlackWidow Ultimate, also backlit but without Chroma system.

From our point of view, the Razer BlackWidow Chroma is an excellent purchase to complete any gaming equipment. Invest in the peripheral that we use every day always is a great idea and, having in mind his quality, it is probable that you change equipment sometime before you change your keyboard.
