The new GT60 from MSI come in two versions, a Gaming one and portable workstation. The main difference between them is the graphics card: the gaming model features a GeForce GTX 780M, while the Workstation one has an NVIDIA Quadro K3100M, perfect for software like AutoCAD 2014 –they’ve recently certified by Autodesk, by the way-.
Otherwise, they’re pretty much the same: 4th-generation Intel Core i7 processor with 4 cores and 8 threads (Core i7-4700MQ at 2.4 @ 3.4 GHz) along with 16 GB of DDR3 RAM at 1600MHz, backlit keyboard with SteelSeries colors and Dynaudio Premium speakers with an additional subwoofer.
The most noteworthy aspect is without a doubt the IPS 15.6-inch screen and its amazing 2800 x 1620 resolution, not enough to offer 4K but enough to be considered 3K (3 times the Full HD resolution), offering 207 ppi.
It also features a 128 GB SSD and a 1-TB HDD at 7200 RPM to store your files, as well as a Blu-Ray recorder.
The new MSI GT60 3K cost 2200 USD (Gaming model) and 2800 USD (workstation model) respectively.
