Best Gaming Laptops under 600 Dollars 2015

In this page, I list some gaming laptops under 600 or just a little over 600. This amount will not get you a professional high-end gaming laptop, but the specs of these $600 gaming laptops are not bad. All are equipped with AMD A8 or even A10 quad-core processors and a midrange GPU. You also can find an i5 laptop, but its graphics performance will be slightly handicap. Here I will recommend one the best, although it has some drawbacks, but I promise it’s the best laptop under $600 you can find for gaming. I also cited a number of other good laptops; you can select the one that is best suited to your needs.

My recommendation: Acer Aspire V3-572G-543S Laptop

Acer Aspire V3-572G-587W

The Acer Aspire V3-572G-543S is a multi-purpose laptop that has a great look, doesn’t take too long to boot up and performs well too. It lets you see movies in a smooth manner with its 15.6 inch Full HD display (1920 x 1080). You can also expect to have good game quality due to its 1024 x 768 resolution. Although the keyboard is what you would expect with a regular laptop, the touchpad is very disappointing.

The all in one touchpad responses pretty good to the touch, but it has to bend quite a bit before it registers the clicks that have been made. Basically, this really isn’t good for the overall user experience.

In addition, if you have become accustomed to having access panels for memory and storage, then you will be disappointed even more. This particular laptop does not have them. So, upgrading would probably be somewhat cumbersome.

Acer has a price around 600 dollars, but it is based upon an Intel i5-5200U CPU and GeForce 840M GPU which based on Nvidia’s new Maxwell architecture, It also has 8GB of memory, and a 1000GB hard drive (5400 rpm). All of these things are pretty standard, which makes this a good laptop. Most of the test games that we played were done with a WXGA resolution (1366 x 768) and medium or high detail settings. You usually don’t find this with most laptops in this price range.

It only takes this laptop about 18.5 seconds to boot up and that is pretty good. The 1080p video plays in a smooth manner, and it has above average speaker sound. When tested according to the PCWorld rundown tests, the battery life turned out to be about 6 hours and 13 minutes total. This is really great.

This laptop overall is a sturdy laptop that can be used daily. It is more than average in terms of being able to play your movies and games. However, note that the games have to be low resolution ones. Also, remember that the touchpad bends too much. But, maybe you will not find it to be a problem, once you get used to the feel of it. Another gripe that I have about this laptop is that it does not have the accessible panels where you can easily get to upgrade the storage and memory.

We like:
  • Large display
  • Attractive industrial design
  • Long battery life
  • Full HD  screen
  • Better-than-average gaming performance at 1366 x 768
We don’t like:
  • Too much travel in the trackpad

Buying Guide:

As mentioned above, the Acer Aspire V3-572G-543S is what I most want to recommend to you, whose graphics card is the best among current laptops of $600 or so. Although the i5-5200U is not so good as the A10-5757M of the APU platform in gaming performance, but its separate graphics card has made up for this defect.

In terms of CPU core, Intle CPU cores are more powerful than AMD’s APU CPU cores. According to benchmarks test, when compared to Richland architecture APUs at the same clock speed , the Intel Haswell architecture CPU core would be about 25% more powerful. As a result, although the Intel I5-5200U has a lower frequency of the 2.2 GHz than the AMD A10-5757M of 2.5 GHz, the A10-5757M has 4 cores, while the i5-4210u has only two, it is still better than the AMD 5757M in the performance of the CPU core. In addition, the i5-4210u has lower power consumption due to more advanced technology of 22nm, and the Acer Aspire V3-572G-54S6 has a relatively longer battery life.

The biggest feature of the Acer Aspire V5-552P-X404 is the touch screen, due to the use of APU platform, the AMD A10-5757M processor integrates Radeon HD 8650G, and it can achieve very good performance without the dedicated graphics card.

Lenovo Z50 is a model recently launched by Lenovo, which is provided with a power efficient ULV (Ultra Low Voltage) quad-core processor A10-7300 that using 28nm production technique. Although its performance is no match for that of AMD A10-5750M, it has a markedly reduced power consumption, with only a rated power of 19 Watts, while that of A10-5750M is as high as 35w; a smaller power consumption will lead to smaller amount of heat and can better avoid the occurrence of slow operation and breakdown of the laptops. This point is of tremendous importance to the gaming laptops. The AMD A10-7300 integrates Radeon R6 GPU, whose performance is similar to that of 720M, and it can smoothly operate most of the current games. However, the 8650G’s gaming performance is relatively higher that that of Radeon R6. I think under the circumstance that a laptop’s performance can meet your gaming needs, the selection of laptop with a smaller power consumption is more suitable; and in contrast to the pursuit of the excessive performance, the stability of performance is of a greater importance.

The Acer Aspire E5-551G-T0JN adopts the same processor of A10-7300 as the Z50, but it is equipped with a dedicated graphics card Radeon R7 M265 .The performance of Radeon R7 M265 is similar to the GTX 730M, that can play many games smoothly in medium and even high setting. For demanding games, it runs well (more than 30 fps) on low resolutions and detailed settings.
