The Taiwanese laptop manufacturer Clevo has released a 2014 calendar with the release of their integrated and dedicated graphics cards, both from AMD and NVIDIA. In the latter category now is included a new series of NVIDIA Maxwell graphics cards for laptops, includes the GeForce GTX 800M Series graphics cards.
This new series of GPUs for laptops features new models based on the Maxwell architecture as well as some models based on the Kepler architecture; some of them have been renamed. These models go from the most powerful card (at least for now), the GeForce GTX 880M (with the GM104 chip), to the low-end GeForce GT 840M. The graphics cards Clevo has released details about are the following:
- GeForce GTX 880M: based on Maxwell architecture (GM104) has 4 to 8GB of graphics memory.
- GeForce GTX 870M: based on Maxwell architecture (GM104) and equipped with 3 to 6GB of graphics memory.
- GeForce GTX 860M: architecture also Maxwell (probably GM106) and equipped with 2 to 4GB of graphics memory. This model may go soldered directly to the board.
- GeForce GTX 850M: based on Maxwell architecture (perhaps GM107) and equipped with 2GB of graphics memory.
- GeForce GT 840M: Probably based on Kepler (GK107) architecture and equipped with 2GB of graphics memory, soldered directly to the motherboard.
According to Clevo’s calendar, the first models with Maxwell architecture will be available in February 2014.
