AMD warned everyone that DirectX 12 would bring great benefits to its GPUs and CPUs, and after upgrading 3DMark with support for DirectX 12 API this is more than evident, as an already “old” Radeon R9 290x with a price around 399 euros is a slightly a more powerful option than “the alleged world’s most powerful graphics card”, the GeForce GTX TITAN X, priced at around 1,200 dollars.
On the evidence collected by PCWorld there is evidence that the Radeon R9 290x is slightly more powerful than the TITAN X, whereas when compared to the GTX 980, the difference is quite large, as the AMD option is shown 33 percent faster, as undoubtedly DirectX 12 was exactly what the video game industry in PCs needed. Also these tests clearly indicated that Mantle was doing his job well.
