Rumor: GeForce GTX 800 series will be cheaper and faster than the 700 series

With the arrival of summer, it is time of rumors and the dedicated graphics cards segment is never free of them. With the newly emerging data on the performance of the Z Titan Vs 295×2 and waiting for a possible GTX 790, the rumor mill is in luck and that comes into play the 800 series of Santa Clara.

Pending for official confirmation (which will not arrive until later this year), everything point that the GTX 880 will replace the current GTX 780. This new chart will come backed by the Maxwell architecture that so good feelings we have gotten in the GTX 750, offering a performance higher than expected. Yet this is not the news but apparently the 800 series, in addition to being faster than the current, will also become much cheaper. If confirmed, this would be very good news given the current NVIDIA prices, especially compared with its rival AMD.

However and we already mentioned, these are only rumors as it is too early to get into a price war when we have not yet date to exit to the market. To this we must add that NVIDIA has a clearly defined strategy Prices: 500 euros for GTX 780, 625 for GTX 780 Ti, 900 euros for the Titan and 2800 for Titan Z, what make us a question, what has happened during these years in order that the line “enthusiast” reach these values? Although we donĀ“t have the answer to this question, we can say that these prices mark the market with a low level of sales.

New reports indicate that at the end of this year there will be a 20nm Maxwell. All targets that could be the GTX 880, but the way to making this chip size remains complex. In any case, we are eager to see the steps that both NVIDIA and AMD will give in the graphic segment, especially in the second case, as it is involved in an internal renewal process that will hopefully benefit us all.
