ASUS N53SV-EH71 gaming laptop is robust, stunning & overall superb! I’m basically an amateur graphic designer & a gamer and always dreamt of a machine that was powerful, easy on the eyes and portable. While on sale this machine was worth the $990 which was pretty convenient as I always wanted to buy this laptop.

It comes with a size that is slightly bigger than 15.6’ therefore it is highly recommended to get a bigger case for it. I personally use a 17’ Swissgear bag that is perfect for this laptop.

It has a smooth aluminum finish & the overall shape of the body is pretty good!
One thing that is annoying is how around the display the case a shiny plastic. I always make sure never to touch the specific area, but still it tends to show scratches. Maybe due to dust or something?  Don’t have any idea.

There’s not much to say about the screen except that it’s colorful & clear. Although this laptop is bigger than other 15.6?laptops, but the size of its screen is not bigger than any of the 15.6?laptops.

The sound appears to be superb! Just connect it to a surround sound system & you will see the results! This laptop comes with inbuilt speakers that are more powerful than any other laptops I’ve used so far & the quality is truly awesome!

Hard Drive:
This laptop features a HD with enough capacity to hold a fair amount of material & is quite fast. I’ve filled it with games and it kind of seems to be running perfectly fine!

ASUS N53SV-EH71 15.6-Inch Gaming laptopThis laptop is capable of handling older games as well as fairly recent titles. I am a gamer who likes games such as Counter Strike: Source & Team Fortress 2. Both of these games run steadily at 60 FPS! To record gameplay I use Fraps and to my surprise it hardly had any effect on framerate! I’ve also played games such as Gears of War and Lost Planet Extreme Condition and found that at highest settings they run perfectly well. But one thing that bogs down these games are the particles. At maximum settings the framerate of Gears of War runs steadily at a constant of around 50 or 60. But once the game advances to the act where the lambent wretches and down pouring are introduced in combat, the framerate tends to lower down at 20s or 30s. The same thing happens with the Lost Planet as it has a continuous flow of snow whilst outside that brings down the framerate. The framerate by no means turns into unplayable on maximum, but it’s up to you whether you want to play a game like Crysis at absurd resolution on Ultra High.

Graphic Design:
Like I’ve mentioned before, being an amateur graphic designer makes me use PhotoShop CS5 for all sorts of things. This laptop turns out to handle nearly all of what I usually do in Photoshop.
Which is great!

It comes with preinstalled bloatware that most would find to be of no use.  The power adapter is quite large and the keyboard has very minor flex which some people may find pretty inconvenient. But to me its quite comfortable to type on.
The normal color setting of this laptop comes with a blue tint (at least in my case) that can be annoying to some people. Although it can be changed, but it’s still quite annoying if we have to change it.
Although it is slightly heavier and larger than most 15?laptops, but still it manages to fit in my campus pack.
